Reasons for Seeking Apostille Services
A person would use an apostille service for various reasons, mainly involving the authentication of public documents for use in foreign countries. An apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or death certificates, judgments, or background checks. Some common reasons for using an apostille service include:
- International transactions: Businesses engaging in international trade and transactions may require apostilles for documents like certificates, contracts, and powers of attorney to be recognized in other countries.
- Studying abroad: Students need to have their diplomas, transcripts, and sometimes recommendation letters apostilled to meet visa requirements and follow the law when studying in another country.
- Working abroad: Individuals seeking employment in foreign countries may need to have their degrees, licenses, and other important documents apostilled for recognition by employers and foreign authorities.
- Personal reasons: People may need to have their personal documents, such as birth or marriage certificates, apostilled when traveling or moving to another country.
An apostille service helps to streamline the process of authenticating documents for international use, ensuring that the documents are recognized and accepted in the destination country.

What is an Apostille:
An Apostille is a certificate used in international law that authenticates the signature of a public official on a document for use in another country. It is issued by a government in accordance with the Hague Convention, which simplifies the process of legalizing and authenticating public documents. An Apostille certifies the authenticity of the signature of the public official who signed the document, the capacity in which that public official acted, and, when appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp which the document bears, such as a notary public seal. Apostilles are primarily used for documents that will be recognized in foreign countries that are members of the 1961 Hague Convention. These documents can include birth certificates, court orders, or any other document issued by a federal agency or certified by a U.S. or foreign consul. Once a document has been issued an Apostille, it does not require additional certification by the U.S. Department of State or legalization by a U.S. embassy or consulate overseas to be recognized in a participating country. However, it is crucial to follow the correct process for authenticating relevant documents, as using the wrong process could result in a document being rejected by the foreign country.
Apostille services can be performed over the internet in any Texas county, including the cities of Austin, Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, and Dallas.
